Obituary of James Roche
James Francis Roche, 93, of Glastonbury, formerly of Madison died at Atria Greenridge Place in Rocky Hill. He was born in West Haven on September 29,1921 to the late Charles and Anne (Rogan) Roche. He graduated from West Haven High School and then joined the Army Air Corps to serve his country during World War Two. He was part of the Normandy Invasion and the liberation of Paris. After recovering from a brain injury, he voluntarily returned to his unit and served until the end of the war. When he returned home he attended night school where he met Grace Tagg, his future wife and the love of his life. They were married for fifty-seven years until her death in 2008. He earned a business degree from the University of New Haven and worked in the folding-box business, for fifty years. He leaves to mourn his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Keith Kraner of Glastonbury. He also leaves his beloved grandson and namesake, James Kraner of Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Joseph, Thomas and Noel. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 31st from 4:00-8:00 at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 1st at 12 noon in Saint Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury, with burial at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
