Obituary of Dorothy Harrington

Dorothy (Knapp) Harrington, 89, of Glastonbury, wife of the late Douglas O. Harrington, died Sunday January 9, 2011 at Laurel Gardens. Born April 27, 1921 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Mary Leah (Amiot) Knapp she was raised in Glastonbury and had lived in Florida for 12 years before moving back to Glastonbury. Prior to her retirement she was an executive secretary for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Dorothy graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1938. She was a charter member of the League of the Sacred Heart at St. Paul Church, a member of the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Club, the Marine Corps Women's Auxiliary in Glastonbury and the Sunshine Lady Colony Cove when she lived in Florida. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Susan H. and John L. Forsyth of Leroy, NY, a sister Jeanne Ames of Glastonbury, 2 grandchildren and their spouses Brian J. and Erin Forsyth and Douglas M. and Krystal Forsyth and 3 great grandchildren Jack Patrick, Micah Brian and Elizabeth Ann. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Mildred Roman and Marilyn Jackson. A special thank you to her niece and her husband Betsy and Jon Susat for all the care and love shown to Dorothy these past years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday Jan. 21, at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will be private in Rose Hill Memorial Park. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the VNA Health Care, Hospice, 103 Woodland St., Hartford, CT. 06105-1233. The Mulryan Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
