Obituary of Christopher Clemens
Christopher W. Clemens, 76, of South Glastonbury, beloved husband of 43 years to Constance (Brittingham) Clemens, died Thursday July 21, 2011 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. Born January 2, 1935 in Hartford, son of the late Joseph W. and Bertha (Daniels) Clemens, he was a lifelong resident of Glastonbury. He was in the construction business for 38 years and owned the K.C. Housing Corp. from 1978 until his retirement in 1996. He graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1953 and was in the Army from 1956 to 1958. Besides his wife he is survived by his children by marriage James P. Newsom, and his wife Barbara, Shelley Newsom and her companion Gyula Paztur, Robert Newsom and his wife Paula, a brother Joseph Clemens and his wife Lottie, a sister Alma Clemens Martin and her husband Walter, a sister-in-law Peggy Bell and her husband David, 7 grandchildren Dawn Lippman and her husband David, Scott Newsom and his wife Jaime, Andrea Curry and her husband Patrick, Derek Newsom and his wife Laryssa, Donald Carter and his companion Heather, Katie Carter-Benitez and her husband Carlos, Ginny Carter and 12 great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Beverly Clemens Cowles. Funeral service will be Tuesday July 26 at 1:00pm in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury with Pastor F. William Hodge officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Swedish Cemetery, Portland. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
