Obituary of Helen Carter

Helen A. Carter, 89, beloved wife of Harry R. Carter, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011. She grew up in Glastonbury and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Laski. Helen traveled many places with her husband, a decorated World War II Air Force veteran. During Harry's 29 years of service to his country, they spent time in New York State, England, Alaska and finally Springfield, Massachusetts. The family retired to her home place in Glastonbury and built the house of their dreams where they have lived for over 40 years. Helen was a loving wife, mother and a hard working school bus driver for the town of Glastonbury. Some of her favorite things were painting landscapes, cake decorating, sewing, crafting and being the most wonderful cook. She will be dearly missed. Besides her loving husband of almost 65 years, Helen is survived by her devoted children, Cathy Johnson and her husband Jeff who live in San Antonio, TX and Rona C. McLaughlin and her husband Tom who live in Nashville, TN, her older brother, Edward Laski of Glastonbury and his family, Don Cyr the husband of her late sister, Jennie Laski Cyr, of Lebanon, Connecticut as well as many loving nieces. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 30th at 12:30 p.m. at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, immediately followed by burial at St. James Cemetery in Glastonbury. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to dedicate a memorial chair at Nashville Children's Theater where her daughter, Rona has proudly performed for many years.
