Obituary of Elena Mikulski

Elena (Eleanor) Mikulski, 89, of Glastonbury passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Glastonbury Health Care Center, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Walter Mikulski for 65 years. Elena was born in Bronx, NY on June 26, 1922, daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (DeGennaro) Denaro. A long-time resident of Glastonbury, she retired in 1983 from Pratt and Whitney after 30 years as an administrative assistant. She was also a communicant of St. Paul's Church of Glastonbury. Elena loved to knit, crochet and enjoyed spending summers at their cottage on Cedar Island in Clinton with friends and family. In addition to her husband, Elena is survived by a sister, Jeanette Conforti and her husband Vincent of New City, NY; a son, Kenneth and his wife Joyce of Old Saybrook; a daughter, Kathleen and her husband Robert Schug of Wethersfield; two grandchildren, Laura Mikulski Gaber and her husband Steven, and Edward Mikulski and his fiancée Monica Collier; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers Gabriel (Sonny) Denaro, Dr. Anthony Denaro, and two sisters Sadie D'Elia and Filomena Denaro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Sept 16, at 11am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Colchester.
