Obituary of John DiGiovanni
John J. DiGiovanni, 94, of Glastonbury, passed away Monday April 6, 2015. He was born April 4, 1921 in Hartford to Nicolo and Caroline (DeCarlo) DiGiovanni. John was the husband of Lucy (Klimas) DiGiovanni for 68 years. He grew up in Hartford and had been a resident of Glastonbury since 1947. John served his country during WW II in the US Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. John enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing for flounder in Mystic. Other hobbies included building and flying radio controlled airplanes, playing the accordion and designing bonsai plants. He belonged to the Bonsai Society of Greater Hartford, the CT Accordion Association and Winding Brook Radio Control Club. Besides his wife, Lucy, John is survived by his children, Elaine Farrell and her husband Joe, Linda Bristol and her husband Warren, David DiGiovanni, and son-in-law Frank Pascucci. He also leaves four grandchildren; Keith Bristol, Shannon Milton, Craig DiGiovanni and Katie DiGiovanni and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving him is his sisters, Ann DeFelice, Caroline Forte and Eleanor Lowell and many cousins in the U.S. and Italy. He was predeceased by his daughter Janice Pascucci. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 9 at 10:30am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow in Neipsic Cemetery.
