Obituary of Robert J. Zanlungo, Sr.

Robert J. Zanlungo, Sr., 66, of Eastford, beloved husband of the late Katheryne (Lynch) Zanlungo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. Born January 28, 1949 in Manchester, CT, son of the late Cletto L. and Angeline (Cherubini) Zanlungo. Bob grew up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School in 1967. After high school he was drafted and served in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War. He met and married the love of his life, Kathy, in 1976 and moved to Eastford, where they had lived ever since. Bob was employed by the Town of Manchester for 31 years, first in the Parks Department and then in the Water Department. After retiring from the Town of Manchester in 2002, he worked with his brother Paul who owned and operated Zanlungo Millworks & Construction. Bob loved hunting, fishing and trapping. While growing up, he enjoyed many summers on Ashford Lake doing all of these things with his brothers and life long friend Brian VanCamp. His love of the outdoors and nature was life long and he was most happy at home, surrounded by the woods and wildlife. Bob will be greatly missed by his son Robert J. Zanlungo, Jr. of Glastonbury, his brother Charlie and wife Gail of Manchester, brother Paul and wife Lynn of Ashford, sister Ann Stevenson and husband Mike of Manchester, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edward and Judy Lynch of Newington, many nieces, nephews and especially dear friends, Norman and Darlene Reviczky. Friends may call from 6-8PM on Tuesday, January 12th at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM, Wednesday, January 13th at the Church of St. Dunstan, 1345 Manchester Road, Glastonbury. Interment with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glastonbury Rotary Scholarship Fund, PO Box 67, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
