Robert W. “Honey” Ponchak, 92, of Glastonbury. It is with great sadness to announce the death of Robert Ponchak. Bob passed away Saturday January 9, 2016. He was born in Hartford, July 25, 1923, the son of the late Andrew and Theresa Ponchak, the last of twelve children. Bob lived in East Hartford and Glastonbury. He was married to the late Pauline (Duquette) Ponchak for 65 years and they had one daughter, the late Catherine Ponchak Miller. Bob served proudly in the US Navy from 1942-1946 during World War II as an armed guard. He was an East Hartford police officer and later worked for the MDC. Bob loved life and worked hard to please others, an endeavor that endeared him to everyone. He was a kind hearted person with a warm smile, keen mind and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved the UCONN girls basketball team, hunting and fishing and his hunting dog, Mac. He loved gardening, growing “the best tomatoes in Glastonbury” and sharing them with everyone. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and an active member of the Men’s Club. Bob’s passing leaves a deep hole in all his family and friends hearts, while making them better people for being part of his life.
