Dear Charlene and family,
I had been thinking of you a lot lately without really knowing why which eventually led me to your Moms obituary. I'm so sorry for your loss. My Dad passed later in 2016 and joins my Mom who passed in '04.
I know the loss you must feel and perhaps the knowledge that the world and life as we know it won't ever be the same.
When I think of you I remember the courageous girl who dyed her hair and didn't care what anyone thought. Unlike the rest of us who followed the crowd with a passion for acceptance, you were a unique and wonderful individual.
Your Mom must have taught you that or maybe you're like her. I never met your Mom nor had I even heard your voice, but I admired you from afar... I was probably a jerk and too busy being a follower to even say "hi". I wish I had.
I specifically remember you walking into the auditorium. You made your way to a seat. You were alone. I wanted my hair that exact color and guess what? Today it is. There is no crowd for me and I do not recognize who I was in High School. Forgive me if I was at any time rude to you.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. For me, it always seems like yesterday.
I hope life has otherwise been good to you and your family.
