Obituary of Thomas A. Burnep

Thomas A. Burnep, 85, of West Hartford, beloved husband of the late Beverly (Brenneman) Burnep died Sunday, March 25, 2016 at the UCONN Health Center. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on May 12, 1930, to the late Edwin T. and Irene (Hayward) Burnep, he was a longtime resident of Glastonbury before living with his daughter Julie and her husband Kevin Rita in West Hartford. Thomas earned an Associate Degree from the University of Toledo and worked for Travelers Insurance as a claims representative. He enjoyed fishing, golf, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Thomas is survived by his children Julie Burnep and her husband Kevin Rita of West Hartford, Jeffrey Burnep, and his partner Julie St. John of Maumee, Ohio, Jay Burnep of Vernon, Jonathon Burnep of Broad Brook, his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Burnep of South Windsor, his six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Kay Dolbee, and his sister-in-law Erma Burnep, both of Toledo, Ohio, and many other dear friends and relatives. His brother James E. Burnep of Toledo, Ohio, predeceased him. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of John Dempsey Hospital. There are no calling hours. A committal service will be held at the family’s convenience in Toledo, Ohio.
