Obituary of Richard S. Whitehouse
Richard S. Whitehouse, 69, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Lorraine (Mennino) Whitehouse, died Friday April 1, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Born December 8, 1946 in Natick, MA, son of the late Harold and Ruth (Sanger) Whitehouse, he had lived in Glastonbury since 1999. Prior to his retirement in 2004 he was the owner of Horizon Asset Management Co., their motto was “Landlord with Pride”. He received his BS from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, was a member and former vice president of the Greater Hartford Property Owners Association. He enjoyed his many friends with the Friday morning breakfast club at the Hartford YMCA. Mr. and Mrs. Whitehouse had donated the Whitehouse Family Nature Preserve to the town of Glastonbury. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and sharing beach donuts with them and was proud to be called Papa. Richard and Lorraine were so grateful to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center for the compassionate care he received during his treatment. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Lynn Marquis and her husband Brian and their children Chelsea and Sarah of Glastonbury, his son Todd Whitehouse and his wife Valerie and their children Cecilia, Estelle, Jarek and Everett of Tolland and a sister Betty Alcock of Sandwich, NH. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Whitehouse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 7 at 10am in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Wednesday April 6 from 4-7pm.
