Obituary of Julia M. Bragdon

Julia Margaret (Trymbulak) Bragdon, 94, of Glastonbury, died May 16, 2016. She was the wife of the late Whitfield Bragdon. Julia was born on January 2, 1922 in Hartford, the seventh of 11 children to Josef and Katherine (Kowal) Trymbulak. She was a lifelong resident of Glastonbury. Julia proudly served our country during World War II as a supply clerk for the quartermaster in the Women’s Army Corps stationed in Georgia. When peace was achieved she returned to Glastonbury where she worked at JB Williams Soap Factory. It was at the Soap Factory that she met the love of her life, Whitfield, when he came to make repairs to the building. They soon married and spent the rest of their lives together working, traveling and spending time at their beach house in Misquamicut, RI. After leaving JB Williams Julia spent several years working at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. She left Pratt and Whitney for her final career as a US Postal Carrier in Glastonbury. For more than 20 years she rode her rural route around town from the wrong side of her station wagon. The “Mail Lady” made many friends along her route Julia was pre-deceased by three brothers and six sisters. Sophie Sadloski, Mary (Arbo) Faber, Josephine Szrom, Anna Lane, Martha LaRosa, Helen, Stanley, Joseph, and Walter Trymbulak, Sr. She is survived by one sister, Victoria Sosnicky of Colraine, MA. She also leaves a step-son Robert Bragdon and wife Betty, her grandson Roger Bragdon and his wife Melissa and their daughters Jessica and Lauren, all of Union, CT. She also cherished each of her nieces and nephews and their many children. While she had no children of her own, those of us who called her “Gram” or “Aunt Julia” were blessed with her care and love as if we were her very own. “True love is when you touch someone with your spirit, and in your return they touch your soul with their heart.” The family would like to thank Cassandra from Right at Home Services and Beth LeDuc for their loving care and compassion. Their assistance was instrumental in allowing us to fulfill Julia’s wish to stay at home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 21 at 10am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will follow at Neipsic Cemetery, Veterans Section, East Glastonbury Connecticut. Friends and family may call Friday, May 20 from 4p, to 7pm at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome and will be shared with those who need a bloom to brighten their day.
