Obituary of Patrick Michael Williams

Patrick Michael Williams, 21 of Glastonbury, died Thursday June 16, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 31, 1994 in Hartford, cherished son of Michael J. and Maureen (Connelly) Williams and adored brother of Annie Williams. Patrick graduated from Glastonbury High School in 2013 and attended UConn until he had to withdraw because of his illness. He was a natural athlete and participated in baseball, swimming, and pole vaulting in high school. He worked summers as a life guard at Orchard Hill Pool Club in Glastonbury and loved teaching kids to swim. He volunteered as a coach for Special Olympics skiing and track teams, and was beloved by the athletes and their families. Pat loved life and brought joy to everyone he met. His amazing smile, sense of humor, and genuine kindness drew people to him. Everyone loved Patrick – it was impossible not to. In spite of his illness, Pat never lost his optimism and continued to amaze everyone with his resilience and spirit. In the 2 plus years since his diagnosis, he swam in oceans – Atlantic and Pacific – skied black diamonds, went sky diving, and practiced yoga. His friends, and there were so many, rallied around him and supported him throughout his battle. Besides his parents and sister, he is survived by his grandmothers, Elaine Williams and Mary Connelly both of Glastonbury, his uncles and aunts, Doug Williams and Lisa Linn of Canton, Dan and Julia Connelly of NC, Tim and Sally Connelly of Windsor, and many friends and cousins. The family would like to thank all those who offered prayers, kind wishes and support during this difficult time. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and entire staff at CCMC, especially Dr. Eileen Gillan and Barb Cohen, for the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his family during his illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 23 at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury (everyone please meet directly at the church). Burial will follow in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Wednesday June 22 from 4-7pm.
