Obituary of William Low
William “Mike” Low, 78, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Patricia (Villard) Low, died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford, on June 26, 1938 to the late M. Nelson and Virginia (Sullivan) Low. Mike grew up in Wethersfield where he attended Kingswood, Wethersfield High School, and then graduated from Fairfield University ‘60. He met his wife Pat in NYC at the St. Patrick Day Parade. Other than his family, some of his greatest loves were going to Ogunquit, cigars, a good martini, and watching the Monaco Ford Softball Team. Growing up he spent much of his youth at Wethersfield Country Club caddying and learning the game of golf. He was an active member of the Democratic Town Committee for over 40 years, serving in multiple capacities, several as the Treasurer. He was also Chairman of the Economic Development Commission and served on the Public Building Commission. Other than his wife, Mike is survived by his daughter Tracey and husband Jeff Grote, and his angels, Emily, and Samantha of Glastonbury. He is also survived by his siblings: Peter Low (Imogene Donovan) of Cape Cod, Timothy Low of FL, Susan Harkins (Ken) of TN, and Barbara Low (Nancy) of Cape Cod. Known as Uncle Buck, he will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Steven, Jeffrey, David, Cathy, Matthew, Deborah, Michelle, Charles, and Scott, and his brother-in-law Charles S. Villard (Linda) of Coventry, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved nephew Brian Low. A special thanks to his buddies at Glastonbury Health Care, Ernie, Jim and Tom. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Paul Church 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends and family may call Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
