A dreamer and a builder Newell was an ambitious and a builder of social justice actions in Manchester. Growing up in Manchester I knew him as my family's minister and when I returned to town to live he and Jane were living the call to create justuce. Center Congregational hosted town hall meetings on civil rights and caring for "the other" as if they were our own throughout their missions.
I shall not be able to make the service in Glastonbury but will long remember Newell.
Job well done!
Christine

Jane ... It's been many years since we both retired from our work in online learning. I am so sorry we lost contact -- and to relocate you through this very sad news is even more unfortunate.
You had an incredible marriage and family and I know you will keep Newell's memory alive through your continued engagement with family and good works.
We now live in Manhattan... a long way from the Berkshires but a new life for us.
Thinking of you at this time.
Fondly, Gloria and Bob Gery

To Cynthia and the Curtis family- All best thoughts to you as you mourn. While I had only briefly met the Reverend at a Wellesley COngregational Church Easter service, his long service and goodness are well documented and his passing came too soon. Prayers of strength and faith to you all. Best regards, Phil Carens/Wellesley MA

Dear Curtis family:
I wish to convey my sincerest condolences to your entire family. Losing a loved one in death is one is one of the hardest things that anyone will ever have to deal with. There is a great hope held out to us for the future because God promises to bring those we lost back to life by means of a resurrection to a paradise earth, where sickness and death will be no more. I hope this brief message will bring you a measure of comfort in this difficult time.

Dear Jane and family,
How sad we are to learn of Newell's passing. In the short time we shared at Center Church before his retirement, he made a significant impact on our lives as a young family. He certainly made an impact on Karen's journey in Christian education.
May the comfort you find in one another and in God's loving presence sustain you and may wonderful memories be a reminder of the goodness and grace of a full life, well lived.
Our prayers are with you now and in the days ahead.
Fondly, Phil and Karen

Rev. Newell Curtis was an inspiring preacher and leader who walked the walk, and talked the talk. He inspired me to study ministry, to take real actions of outreach, to do my best to be Christ's body in the world. He was kind, and challenging, and a very honorable person. He was a true disciple of Jesus, and I am so thankful to have known him.
