Obituary of Robert Thompson

Robert A. Thompson, 81, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Barbara Adams Thompson, died Tuesday June 12, 2012 at home. Born March 22, 1931 in Columbus , Ohio son of the late Norma and Howard Thompson. Father to David, Timothy, Samuel and Matthew, Dad to daughters-in-law; Judy, Tina and Sara, Brother to Roger and his wife Lizabeth, Grandpa to Tyler, Emily, Jamey, Jacob and Sam, Jr. Brother-in-law to Jane, Peter, Nancy and Albert, Uncle Bob to nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from OSU in 1954 and came to Connecticut to work at UTC as a Test Engineer. Bob was a loving and devoted family man and friend to many. He was a member of First Church of Christ, UCC in Glastonbury and Youth Fellowship Advisor with Barbara for many years. He volunteered for the CT. Prison Association and was a member of and traveled around the United States with the Yamaha 650 Club. He was a maker of Teddy Bears, hooked pictures, builder of cars, charter member of the Panera People Club and could fix anything with vise-grips, duct tape and safety wire. A memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday June 19 at 1:00pm in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Monday, June 18 from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Covenant House, 427 West 52nd Street, NY, NY 10019 or to the First Church of Christ, Congregational or to Hospice, 103 Woodland St., Hartford, CT. 06105.
