Obituary of Joseph G. Sweeney

Joe died peacefully at his home of 61 years in South Glastonbury at age 93. Joe was born in a small coal mining town in Pennsylvania and had a 42 year career at his beloved Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in E. Hartford, beginning with 9 years in Experimental Flight Test followed by 33 years in the Performance Group. He was predeceased by his wife Julia (Scaglia) and his daughter Marijo. He is survived by his sons Leonard, Michael and wife Margaret, Sean and daughter Deborah. He also leaves behind 15 treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services are being held at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave Glastonbury, with calling hours Thursday November 17th between 6:00-8:00 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd South Glastonbury on Friday November 18th at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1318 Hebron Ave Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Augustine Church, South Glastonbury or the East Glastonbury Library, 1389 Neipsic Rd Glastonbury.
