Obituary of Frank H. Goeckler

Frank H. Goeckler of Glastonbury, CT (Nov. 20, 1933-Feb. 24, 2017) passed away peacefully Friday evening February 24 surrounded by his family. Frank was a loving husband for 54 years to Helen (Vontzalides), a devoted father to children Steve and wife Lisa (Filpi), Frank and wife Lori (Oblinger), Anne Fischer and husband Phil, and adored grandson Andrew. Frank grew up in Willow Grove, PA son to Grace (Jones) and Frank Edward Goeckler, he was a brother to John, Margaret and Betsy, and a friend to countless others. Frank led a full life leaving a lasting impact on all he met. He attended the University of Delaware where he played lacrosse and completed Officer Candidate School, joining the Navy following graduation. He served on the USS Nipmuck stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Yard from 1955 - 1959. Following service in the USN, Frank joined the Travelers Insurance Company where he stayed until retirement in 1982. Frank’s hobbies included a love of woodworking, painting, carpentry, duck carving and anything that involved working with his hands. He loved sports and remained faithful to his Phillies and Eagles. He loved to play cards and enjoyed summers on Cape Cod where he purchased a family home in Eastham, MA, a place he could always be found with a good Manhattan or Martini. His personality, generosity and easy going attitude were what made him so popular with so many. He will be forever missed by all, and has left behind a great legacy of family, values, and work for all to reflect and admire.
