Obituary of George C. Holm
George C. Holm, 92, of Ormond Beach, FL, husband of the late Vitalina (Sylvia) Holm, died Tuesday March 7, 2017. Born April 4, 1924 in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of the late George F. and Else (Petersen) Holm. George had lived in Easton, CT for 40 years before moving to Ormond Beach in 2001. George served in the US Navy during World War II and attended Yale University after the war where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1949 and a Bachelor of Architecture in 1952. He later designed schools and college buildings throughout New England. George saw the world as a wondrous place where there was always something interesting to learn and to improve, a world that is filled with people to laugh with and to love. That is why he had a patent pending at 92 and why he was loved by all who met him. George was devoted to his beloved wife of 60 years and found companionship with his dear friend Lillian De Angelo after his wife's death. He is survived by his three daughters and their spouses, Beverly and Dr. Scott Blonder of Pittsfield, MA, Teri and Frank Swigut of Chelmsford, MA, Dr. Sheryn Holm and Dr. Gerald Becker of South Glastonbury, CT; a sister Else Humiston of TN; six grandchildren Douglas Blonder, Hayley (Blonder) Allen and Stephen Allen, Dr. David Blonder, Gregory Swigut, Stephen Swigut, and Austin Becker; and four great grandchildren Scott Allen, Alaina Allen, Dante Blonder, and David Blonder Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10 am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury (everyone please meet directly at church). Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6-8 pm.
