Obituary of Elizabeth Dunne

Elizabeth Catherine Dunne," BETTY", born on February, 9th, 1933 in Hartford, CT, died peacefully on July 1st, 2012 and entered into eternal rest. Born the only child to the late Thomas Patrick Dunne of Graianamanagh, County Kilkenny, Ireland and the late Anna Leacy Dunne of Culentra, Kiltealy, Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland. Betty was the first cousin of the late Anna Mai McCann Byrne, wife of Joseph Conleth Byrne. Betty is survived by her family Annmarie Byrne Pinone and John Pinone and their children Elizabeth, John, Catherine and Luke of Glastonbury, CT. Kathy Byrne Mulquin and Michael Mulquin and Maxim Mulquin of Southport, CT. Karen Byrne of Portsmouth, RI. Colleen Byrne Jinks and Kevin Jinks and Courtney of Wethersfield, CT. Joseph Byrne of Wethersfield, CT. She has three first cousins with large extended family in Ireland. Breda McCann Heffernan, Miles McCann and Marie McCann Coleman. Betty proudly and happily lived most of her life in the Hartford area. She attended St. Peter's school and graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1950. She began a professional career at the Travelers Insurance Company that lasted ~ 42 years. She was always actively involved in the Connecticut Democrats. She was a John F Kennedy girl and one of her proudest moments was being invited and having had the privilege to attend his Presidential Inauguration. She was an avid Hartford Whalers fan and supporter. Betty enjoyed traveling on the weekends with her friends and family to her homes in Dover, VT and Narragansett, RI. She surrounded herself with her Byrne family and their children at holidays and special occasions at their homes and summers spent at the CT shoreline. Betty was always front and center, favorite fan, at all school and sporting events, supporting our athletes and coaches alike. Together we created lasting memories that we will cherish always! She spent hours creating ceramics, floral arranging and shopping on QVC. Betty was a quiet presence, with a colorful wardrobe of purple and red. She was thoughtful and generous. In her retirement years, Betty stayed involved in her Hartford and Wethersfield communities by volunteering at the Bushnell, St. Francis Women's Auxiliary, and voting polls. Betty held her close circle of lifelong friends near and dear to her heart. In her later years, Betty called Buckingham Estates in Glastonbury, CT her home. She truly enjoyed the staff and residents in that special community. She loved going on the outings, arts and crafts, and sharing meals with her friends. A warm thank you to all those there that touched Betty's life .We will be forever grateful for your love and kindness.
