Obituary of Edith Stanford

Edith (Gervasi) Stanford, 97, of East Hartford, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Stanford, died Thursday July 12, 2012 at Hartford Hospital. Born May 9, 1915 in Hartford, daughter of the late Paul and Nella (Loicano) Gervasi, she had lived in East Hartford since 1964. She had worked at Sage-Allen for 11 years and retired from Travelers Insurance Co after 22 years of service. Edith was a graduate of Hartford Public High School. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Anthony Lawrence, Sr. of East Hartford , with whom she made her home with for the last seven years, her daughter-in-law Anne (Champ) Stanford of East Hampton, a sister Italia D'Aloia of Simsbury. Family was everything to her and she was Nana to her six grandchildren and their spouses; Katherine and Chuck Martie, Robert M. and Linda Stanford, Lori and Jeff Brooks, Anthony and Carrie Lawrence, Daniel and Holly Lawrence, Robert and Michelle Lawrence, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Robert J. Stanford, Jr., and three sisters. Funeral service will be held Tuesday July 17 at 11am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
