Obituary of Mark N. Shvetz

Mark N. Shvetz, 72, of Glastonbury, husband of the late Janet (Kuszai) Shvetz, died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Marlborough Health Care Center. Born April 25, 1945 in Hartford, son of the late Jacob S. and Judith (Cook) Shvetz, he lived in Glastonbury since 1986. Prior to his retirement, he was a salesman for All-Tek Labeling Systems. He was an avid poker and setback player, and loved playing cards with his wife and friends at the kitchen table until late at night. He enjoyed taking trips to Disney World, Hershey Park, and his favorite destination, Las Vegas, with his family.  He loved animals, especially dogs, and was well-known for spoiling them, often getting them their own meals from McDonald’s. He coached his son’s Little League teams numerous times and took tremendous pride in the men they became. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Mark is survived by his three sons, David J. Shvetz and his wife Julie Shvetz of Colchester, Justin E. Shvetz of Vernon, Todd A. Shvetz and his wife Dana Saccomano of Vernon, his sister Susan Pedersen of Ivoryton, two grandchildren Meadow and Dawson Shvetz, a niece Kiersten Pedersen of Ivoryton, a nephew Jason Kowalsky of Glastonbury, and his best friend Ed Rome and wife Linda Rome of East Hartford. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Robert Pedersen. Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct. 26 from 11am-1pm with a memorial service to be held at 1pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would especially like to thank Arlene Bronberg for the love and dedicated support she provided for Mark as well as the staff at Marlborough Health Care Center for the exceptional care they provided over the last two months.
