Obituary of Alberta J. Freeman
Alberta Jane Freeman, 72, of Glastonbury CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted family on Saturday, January 13th, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Hartford, CT on September 7, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Freeman and the late Edith A. Freeman (Matthews) of Glastonbury. She leaves behind her loving daughter Holly Moya and son in law Kit Moya, beloved grandsons Logan and Luke Moya, brother Charlie Freeman, sister Mary Buckley and her husband Craig, nieces and their husbands, Hillary Buckley-Lawlor and Michael Lawlor Jr. and Meghan and John Drakos, and cousin Cheryl Turcotte and her husband Richard. Along with her family, Alberta cherished her loyal companions: a dog, Karolina and cat, Gato. She also leaves many dear friends, former students and their families who were also an integral part of her life. For over 25 years, she enjoyed teaching along side her sister Mary and cousin Cheryl, being the Director and Head Teacher of Freeman’s Montessori School in South Glastonbury. Alberta acquired her Montessori training while living and studying in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Her Montessori credentials were attained through her studies in London, England. Alberta was a world traveler who enjoyed cruising, exploring Europe and Costa Rica, visiting Disney World and spending time at Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme, CT. With her grandchildren playing a substantial part of her life, she played an influential role as a strong role model, attended all of their school and sporting events with pride, and expressed her love to them with her continuous guidance and warm hugs.
