Beau and Bethany! We absolutely love the phoots you have taken for us. You truly made our wedding day special. You both made everything so easy for us and our guests. You went above and beyond what we ever imagined and cannot stop looking at our pictures. My phone has been beeping like crazy for the past hour full of compliments. We received so many comments from people on the day of our wedding who thought you were a family friend because of how you conducted yourself. We would recommend you to anyone and everyone. Thank you again!Jamie and Nate

I fondly recall the runs shared with Chris. They were as stimulating mentally as they were physically. On many occasions I would drop off the pace of the faster runners to stay with Chris because the conversation was always enjoyable and the topics wide-ranging. I readily admit some of his literary references were over my head. The turnout at the church service for Chris is evidence of the many lives he touched. My condolences to those who were closest to Chris.

for the family of Chris Connelly--on behalf of my sons who now live away from CT, but while at Glastonbury High (classes of '79 and '83), appreciated having such a fine English teacher. I remember this even now so many years later. Great teachers live on in memory. Please accept our condolences and sadness upon hearing of Mr. Connelly's passing.

Fr. Christopher Allen, GHS 1979 posted a condolence

After my Junior year at GHS, I was bound and determined to go to Ireland. Chris had become a real mentor to me in Freshman English, and remained a friend--sort of like an older brother, I suppose--after that year. Though I don't remember clearly how it all came together, Nancy Brogden, Chris, a friend from another town, and I all ended up traveling to Ireland together for several weeks. He, being eldest of us and presumably wisest as well, was a great and adventurous chaperone: just enough older to keep things in check, and just close enough in age to us to know how to enjoy a trip to a land that was full of drama, ancient places and wisdom, natural beauty and an unparalleled literary tradition. Together the four of us biked, hiked, got mildly lost, and rode the train from Yeats' west of Ireland to Joyce's Dublin. Chris was the ideal combination of motivator and shepherd, and we three younger folks were blessed by his presence.
Thank you, Chris, for your strength of spirit, openness of mind and gentleness of heart. Though it's been many years, I will never forget your influence on my life.
May God give you peace eternally in His light, and may He give strength and comfort to your family and friends.
- Chris Allen

I was so saddened to hear, from my sister, of Chris'passing. All I could think of was how mischevious he and I were in kindergarten, with Molly Stratton insisting that we be separated into morning/afternoon sessions. Also running along with his brother Mike for Bob Avery in Cross Country. As often happens, as years go by you lose touch with some of your childhood friends, but I was pleased to hear that he followed in his father's teaching footsteps. From saying Mass for Father Roach at St. Marys to graduating in 1969 from TFHS,Chris was a class act with a great sense of humor and a smile for everyone he met. I know that a loving son, brother, husband and father will be missed beyond belief but what memeories he will leave us with. God bless.

I was stunned to see Chris's handsome face when I opened the paper. We are so incredibly sorry to hear this news. I remember as a new travel soccer mom complaining about how far we had to drive for a game - and then Chris rolled in on his bike! Chris, Micaela, and Tyler please know that you are in our hearts. As a 1997 Glastonbury High School graduate I find that I can't remember many of my teachers' faces let alone their names. There are only a few that I recall vividly and think about often. Mr. Connelly is one of them. I have thought about him often as time has gone on since my graduation. He had left an impression on me. Mr. Connelly was a man of passions. When he had a passion for something he showed such an overwhelming variety of emotions as he talked about them. His love of dictionaries, or I should say one dictionary in particular, was so strong he transferred the passion on to me. The man loved The American Heritage Dictionary. One year he would often get excited letting us students know that the next edition was soon to be released. Back then we all thought he was crazy, but now I'm the same way. Just this month, after being fed up that my latest dictionary was over a decade old, I purchased the fifth edition of "the AHD" as he called it. The whole time I was thinking how proud he would be!
He also loved the spoken word. I am still impressed when I remember the first time he stopped everything in the middle of class to recite Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address" word for word. It was amazing to see. He had so much passion for the language that I am in awe thinking about it to this day.
I saw Mr. Connelly a few months ago at Barnes and Noble looking at books. I wanted to go say "hello" and maybe if the conversation went right let him know what a great teacher he was. I am sad to say that I let a stupid fear I had of him possibly not remembering me stop me from telling him what he deserved to hear. It is something that I regret not having done and I believe Mr. Connelly's last lesson he taught me was if that situation arises again to never let that happen again.
To his family and everyone else who has been saddened by this unexpected loss I would like to express my condolences.
Thank you Mr. Connelly,
Kevin Breen
P.S.-Please excuse any grammatical or punctuation errors Mr. C!!

I graduated from GHS in 1980, and had 'Mr. Connelly' as a teacher. He also ran by my house almost every day, the picture of fitness. I still own my American Heritage dictionary, recommended by Chris that he pitched as the best 'bound in crimson and gold'. He is also the first person I remember sharing that he hated the use of "xmas" because it took Christ out of the word. Chris added great humor to his role as a 'witness' in our business law mock trial. It is a shock to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with his family. Tracey Morse Lamothe

Chris and I started teaching the same year, 1974, in the English Department at Glastonbury High. On the first day of our first summer's vacation, Chris suggested we "hike" Mount Washington. Being a Midwesterner and recently transplanted, I did not really know what this meant --but gladly accepted. The "hike" turned out to be a dawn-to-dusk jog up and back down the mountain. At times we were scaling nearly sheer rock walls because, of course, we had to take the more challenging trails for the most direct route (Tuckerman's Ravine, I think, was one of them.) It was about equal parts terror and exhaustion for me, but Chris was exhilarated every step of the way. That was his way, to embrace challenges -- mental, physical, irrational -- and savor every second. We have been promising during the past two years to get together over a beer to reminisce. At one point in our early careers we met each Friday for dinner at Pizza Plus in Hartford because it was a byob place, and that's what our salaries could almost afford. Our careers and families have taken us separate ways during the past 20 years, but we have always kept in touch. I will regret always the delay of our reconvening. Chris, I'll still have that beer and always remember our many memorable times..... Jim Schepker

Dear Chris, Tyler and Micae, Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. I will fondly remember my conversations with Chris about our mutual love of Charles Dickens. It is rare to meet another Dickens fan. Of course, Chris did a thesis on him so it was a pleasure getting to learn things I never knew. You have a lovely family and each and every one of you plays an integral part of making your family who it is .... your husband (and father's)role left an indelible mark that will remain with you always.
