Mark and I crossed paths briefly while at Northwestern University in the early nineties in Evanston IL. Despite its brevity, Mark left an indelible impression in my mind as he did with so many others throughout his lifetime. The world lost one of the good guys far too soon. Rest in peace Mark. - Bedros Bedrosian NU '93

We met Mark when our kids took karate together and our boys have been friends ever since. It was obvious how much he loved his kids. He lit up when he watched them.
Mark was always a friendly face in the crowd you knew would be willing to talk with you. We were pretty new to town when we met him and he made us feel welcome. I remember his big smile. And of course, he was easy to spot around town in his yellow truck. :) We are going to miss him.

Coach Hilliard made a big difference to my son’s freshman football experience - my son just loved him. Griswold football was better because he was a part of it. We are so sorry to hear this very sad news.

Mark fell under the category of “more than” … Mark was more than an athlete. He made everyone around him play to their potential and beyond. He was more than smart; he was an intellect. Someone that made you think a little more deeply. And most importantly he was more than a friend. His passion for all things enriched your life just by knowing him. Mark, you left an indelible mark on all of us. My condolences to the Hilliard family as well as his closest friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will all remember him in a certain way, but he will always be a Quip and he will never be forgotten.
Wave red and black, forever wave.
