Obituary of Amy Russo
Erminia “Amy” Russo, 83, of South Glastonbury, CT passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on May 19, 2021.
Amy or “Mimi” as she was lovingly referred to, was born in Torino, Italy, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1955. Amy was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She is survived by the love of her life of 63 years, Karl Russo; daughters Carla Pizzella and her husband, Rick of Newington, CT, and Kathy Bialy and her husband Craig of Loveland, CO; her beloved grandchildren Christina Polaski and her husband Jon, Sarah Pizzella and her partner John Ruggiero, and Matthew Bialy; her great grandson Jack Polaski; her sister Lucy Fittante, and all her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Amy was an excellent chef (except that one cake with ginger in it that we always teased her about) and loved hosting dinner for family and friends. She always set a table that would put Martha Stewart to shame and fresh flowers were always a must (and good wine). Those shared meals with her will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have participated in them throughout the course of time.
Amy’s family was always the center of her universe and this included some very special friends that she considered her family. To these friends, Judith, and Stan Lessler, Agneta and Dan Portanova, Eric Leong, Mario Wongsosudiro, Nancy Li, and Nancy and Dan Moraski, thank you for sharing so many wonderful moments with Amy over the years, she truly cherished each one.
The family wishes to thank some very special care givers at Hartford Hospital (Randy on Conklin 5, Stephanie and Melissa on Bliss 10 Step Down, and Makayla on North 8) who were so kind and caring to Amy in her final days.
The family also extends its appreciation for the many hospital visits, prayers and words of love and encouragement received from friends and loved ones over the last several weeks.
