I send my condolences to his wife and children, who he loved deeply. I am very sad to hear of Richard’s death. He was my best friend from the time we met in kindergarten at the Noah Webster School in Hartford, Connecticut until our family moved to Woodstock in the middle of our seventh grade year. It was a time when children played after school until time for supper. And we built forts in the woods, learned to ride two wheelers, skated at Elizabeth Park, played softball and walked each other home. We talked. We talked about everything we knew or did not know, what we were curious about or were trying to figure out. He was a good talker and a thoughtful listener. I believe he made my childhood happy and I hope I did the same for him. Later in our forties we reunited in conversation and were able to meet a few times. We were glad to have a connection back to our young selves. But we lived a fair distance and both of us were deeply committed to our families and our professional life, so if we could meet or talk, that was a rare luxury.

I had the pleasure of having lunch with Professor Banbury many times at the Hartford Steamboiler Cafeteria and talking about the UCONN women’s last game or some esoteric point of law that could only get people like me and Jack Bradley excited. I also had the honor of being partners with Richard for over 15 years at Rome McGuigan. Richard was a lawyer’s lawyer, simple as that.
With Deepest Sympathy,

I have wonderful memories of Richard going back to 1952 when he first attended Kingswood School in West Hartford, CT. He and I played on many of the same teams , football and tennis to name a couple. And I recall having virtually the same academic curriculum - especially since our class size (class of 1956) was approximately 35. Richard really liked Kingswood - much more than I.And the fact that several of his older children did the same attests to this claim. Being a good student, Richard had little trouble getting admission to and graduating from the 2nd best academic college in the northeast. And over the course of 4 years we would joke and share stories and tailgate at Harvard/Yale football games, especially those in New haven. Both of us first married in the early 1960,s and on occasion our entire families would get together socially. One special occasion was in the mid 1970.s when the Beizer and Banbury families spent a week together on the island of Antigua. I will miss Richard - his easy going manner, his sincerity and his tongue in cheek demeanor.
