Even though I was only a small part of Ester's life, she made a lasting impression on me as a colleague at Glastonbury High School, and as the leading lady in the faculty musical "Guys and Dolls". Her warmth and friendship meant a lot to me. She will be missed by many of us.

Mrs. McCune was my high school English teacher. She had a tremendous effect on my life. She opened my eyes to new ideas and concepts that greatly influenced the rest of my life. She always believed in me and all of her students and saw how special each person was inside. She was an amazing human being and this is a great loss to the world.

One of my favorite memories of Ester is when we all went camping in Maine and she gave us girls salad with sherbet for lunch. Loved it. She also was the coolest English teacher with her enthusiasm and antics that made it so much more interesting. I was jealous she wasn’t my teacher.

Mrs. McCune was my English teacher in high school. I was lucky enough to get her for more than one year. I will always be grateful for what I learned from her. Rest In Peace.

I had the pleasure of joining the Glastonbury High team of English teachers in 1974. Perpendicular to my desk in the crowded staff workroom was Esther's, so for the 7 years that I taught there I had the privilege of absorbing Esther's enthusiasm, passion, and energy at very close quarters. If nothing else, I became a better teacher each year simply through osmosis. And that is much to Esther's credit. My condolences to the family -- but you already know far better than I that her legacy lives delightfully on in so many of us, in so many ways.

Karen, Lynn and Janice. My and all of the McDonald “kids” condolences to you on the passing of your Mom. She was always so upbeat and nice to all of us as we grew up on shipman drive with you. Rich and I caught up with your Mom a few years ago at Mrs Fields memorial service. It was so great to spend some time with her. Best to you all. Jim

I only met Aunt Esther twice I think. What I remember most was her wonderful smile and energy. I will miss our phone chats that we shared. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
