Obituary of John W. Cavilia

John Wyndell Cavilia of Glastonbury, 74, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

He is survived by his son Ian Cavilia (of Glastonbury), his son Stephen Cavilia and wife Cori Adams Cavilia (of Rush, NY), his daughter Francesca Caviglia and husband Shane Blackman (of New York City), and grandchildren Hazel and Lucas.

John was born in Reno, NV in 1950, the second of ten children, to John and Wynilou Cavilia.

After working as a wedding photographer, and a few years with the Census Bureau, he graduated from Georgetown Law School in 1984. He eventually settled in Glastonbury where he worked for Travelers for 33 years, retiring in 2023.

He was an avid cyclist and bicycle mechanic, and a lover of music. He sang in choirs and enjoyed playing the guitar. He revered the poetry of Bob Dylan and the music of the Grateful Dead.

He spent his final years caring for his wife of 47 years, Suzanne, until her death in January 2023.
