Obituary of William Graus
William Henry Graus of Glastonbury CT, beloved husband of Sophie Graus died at 87, December 10, 2010 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Ohe en Laak, Holland on May 23, 1923 he was the second of eleven siblings. He enlisted in the Dutch Army for 4 years; stationed in Indonesia, he later returned to work there on a tobacco plantation. William and Sophie married and ventured to America in 1955. He settled in Glastonbury in 1968 and ran the farm for Consolidated Cigar Corp until it closed in 1983. He went on to work for the E. Hartford Board of Ed and was an active member of the Grange and Elks Club. His adventurous spirit took him many places after his retirement. Besides his wife, he is survived by his 5 children and spouses: Ludy & Al Sprague, Mary & Rob Rosi, Harry & Melinda Graus, John Graus & Kelly D'Aloisio, Joe Graus & Joanne Ashline and grandchildren Shawn, Kyle, Jacob, Jacqueline, Rachel, Matt, Jeff, Jason and Brittney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday Dec. 20, at 10am in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Rd., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, Sunday Dec. 19 from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Protectors of Animals. P.O.
