Obituary of David Draghi

David P. Draghi, 83, of South Glastonbury, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at home, surrounded by family and friends. Born April 19, 1928 in Hartford, son of the late Angelo and Guiseppina (Scaglia) Draghi, he was a lifelong resident of South Glastonbury. Dave co-owned and operated Draghi Brother's Fruit Growers in South Glastonbury. After his retirement he did excavation work and owned D&D Construction. Dave was a member of the Matson Hill Community Club, the Farm Bureau and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his two children and their spouses; Luke and Edward Pitcher-Draghi of Burlington, Heidi and James Moody of Marlborough, two brothers and their wives; Gino and Sandra Draghi of South Glastonbury, Peter and Phyllis Draghi of South Windsor, three grandchildren; Matthew and Rebecca Moody and Evan Pitcher-Draghi, his dearest friend Joanne Oblinger of Glastonbury, his former wife Johann Pardi of East Hampton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Paul A. Draghi and five brothers and a sister; Lawrence, Aldo, Nathan, Edward and Andrew Draghi and Louise Mulazzi. The family would like to thank their family and many friends who visited and supported them during their father's illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 27 at 10:00am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Sunday Feb. 26 from 2-5pm.
